The PDF format is currently the most used format to exchange documents. If you provide your website users with printable versions of invoices, event tickets and other similar documents, you’ll most likely want to generate them as PDFs on the fly.
ZendTextTable is a component for creating text-based tables on the fly using decorators. This can be helpful for sending structured data in text emails, or to display table information in a CLI application. ZendTextTable supports multi-line columns, column spans, and alignment.
Basically, I read the text from a Post Parameter and the text is cyrillic. No matter what I have tried to change (I tried to change encodings in Pdf.php of ZendFramework by copying some functions and applying it to setTextField etc.) nothing works. You actually cannot extract a font from a PDF, not even if the font is fully embedded. There are two reasons why this is not feasible: Most fonts are copyrighted, making it illegal to use an extractor. When a font is embedded in a PDF, not all of the font data are included. In this article you will see how you can use Zend_Pdf to auto-generate PDF invoices. Getting Started Zend_Pdf allows you to create new PDF documents or load existing ones and modify them. While creating a new document isn’t that difficult, it makes more sense to create a template of the invoice with the information that doesn’t change (company name, address, logo, etc.).
It’s better to design your invoice in a program like Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Writer and export it as a PDF. Then you can update the PDF with Zend_Pdf with customer and transaction-specific information. You’ll save coding time because you don’t have to position every element, and it will take less time for the PDF to be generated. This is what the invoice template I will be using in this article looks like. Your invoice can look different depending on your needs, but the concepts in this article will remain the same.
Public function setFont (Zend_Pdf_Resource_Font $font, $fontSize ); PDF documents support PostScript Type 1 and TrueType fonts, as well as two specialized PDF types, Type 3 and composite fonts. There are also 14 standard Type 1 fonts built-in to every PDF viewer: Courier (4 styles), Helvetica (4 styles), Times (4 styles), Symbol, and Zapf Dingbats. Zend_Pdf currently supports the standard 14 PDF fonts as well as your own custom TrueType fonts.
Font objects are obtained via one of two factory methods: Zend_Pdf_Font::fontWithName($fontName) for the standard 14 PDF fonts or Zend_Pdf_Font::fontWithPath($filePath) for custom fonts. If the font program is not embedded but the recipient of the PDF file has the font installed on their system, they will see the document as intended. If they do not have the correct font installed, the PDF viewer application will do its best to synthesize a replacement. Some fonts have very specific licensing rules which prevent them from being embedded in PDF documents.
So you are not caught off-guard by this, if you try to use a font that cannot be embedded, the factory method will throw an exception. You can still use these fonts, but you must either pass the do not embed flag as described above, or you can simply suppress the exception. Fill style Zend_Pdf_Page::drawRectangle(), Zend_Pdf_Page::drawPolygon(), Zend_Pdf_Page::drawCircle() and Zend_Pdf_Page::drawEllipse() methods take $fillType argument as an optional parameter.
